The Raviv Therapy Outcome by a parent

When I heard about this therapy I went on to their website to understand how this would help my son to improve his difficulties.  I quickly found a therapist – Roshni Shah and we began the course in late January 2007.

Before the start of the therapy, a full history was taken to establish the difficulties my son was facing and if this would be the right therapy for him.  I had explained to Roshni that I had been to several other therapists who always said how their therapy would be the right one for my son.  With this view Roshni explained the benefits of the programme and she had tried it on her own son who was now doing very well with everyday life and schooling.

We began the course and my son was very enthusiastic about the whole therapy and looked forward to going to see  Roshni every week.  As we got deeper into the sessions, my son built up a special relationship with Roshni whom he felt he could express his problems to her and she would listen and solve them.  He trusted her completely.  Some weeks were better than others, days at school affected his progress in general and then it became a chore for him to do the walk everyday.

As a therapist I have to commend Roshni for being completely honest with me from the outset about how my son was progressing and if the therapy was having any effect on my son’s difficulties.   Each week the progress would be different hence she was honest in advising me that she was unable to see any major changes in his being.

My son found it difficult to concentrate on the walk and to look at any object constantly for twenty minutes.  This is due to a lack of concentration and maturity and I felt that if this therapy was going to work, the walk was the most important part of the programme.

Roshni explained to me that the progression was slow and we decided to cease the sessions for now until he was a little older and able to understand the benefits of the therapy.

I’m sure the therapy has great effects on children who have learning difficulties but I also feel the child has to be mature enough to understand the importance of  the walk as this is what connects the new neural pathways in the brain to make the person overcome his difficulties.

I can recommend  Roshni to anybody as she is a lovely, kind and totally honest person who is very dedicated to what she does.  She is also a mother who has helped her son overcome some difficulties.  She totally understands when a parent presents themselves to her about problems, which they are being faced with.

Thanks for trying to help my son and I hope to come back to you again in the future.
