I am a 24 year old who was diagnosed with dyslexia and dyspraxia in my first year of university. I have always been sceptical of the diagnosis and quiet reluctant to label my difficulties as anything but what there are: difficulties with specific areas of work ie spellings, errors with transcription, slow reading and writing and certain motor tasks. Despite my scepticism the fact remained that I had these difficulties and others of my educational background did not. I had been trying various methods and approaches to help with spellings for a long time with often limited success. I decided to start the Raviv program on the advice of my family who had done some background research into it. I have found that the programme has been beneficial. In particular it has significantly reduced errors in transcription. I find I am slightly more confident in my writing and so writhe a little faster. It has also improved my working memory and this helps greatly in my day to day life. I still struggle with spellings.Though the programme has made some difference to my spellings, it has not been as noticeable as the difference to my working memory and attention. I was not able to continue with the programme for as long as I would have liked due other demands on my time. However I am confident that I would have made further progress with my spellings given the chance to work further through the Apha to Omega Reading, Writing and Spelling programme. Over all working with Roshni Shah was a pleasure. She was always patient and never patronising. She understood the difficulties I was having and tailored our sessions to target these. She was flexible and accommodating which meant that it was possible to fit Raviv in around my other commitments.
